Computer labs are available for scheduled academic courses and approved course-related activities, including office hours, study sessions, and review sessions. If you are a scheduler looking to schedule a course in the computer labs for an upcoming quarter, please follow these instructions for each course or section that requires a lab during the quarterly data entry process for primaries and secondaries, respectively:

  1. Visit the homepage of UCSB Astra ScheduleClick on the Sections tab.
  2. Under "Scheduling"
    • Click "Sections".
    • Filter in the left hand pane by term and subject area.
    • Click on the course for which you would like to set a preference. 
  3. Under "Meetings"
    • Select the link under "Meeting Type"
    • Scroll down to the Preferences section of the course.
  4. Find the Region box
    • Click the X next to "Gen Acad" region to delete it
    • Click on the Add button and select "Computer Labs" for the Region
      • (Make sure to set the mode to "required")
      • If your faculty member has specific requests for rooms or buildings then please make sure the requests listed fall within the specifications of computer labs.
      • If you list a room that is not a designated computer lab or a building that houses one, the request will not be processed.
      • Please also note that if you mark a specific lab or building as "required", the optimization will only consider that set of rooms/buildings and may make placement more difficult.
